Well-Planned Srinagar to Leh Route

Travelling overland provides a gradual transition from the Kashmir Valley towards the higher landscapes of Ladakh. The itinerary includes historic road stops, monastery visits, mountain passes, Nubra Valley and an overnight experience near Pangong Lake, subject to current road access and permits.

Acclimatization and Responsible Travel

Days 4 and 5 are deliberately paced in Leh before continuing to higher-altitude areas. This structure follows the current District Leh acclimatization guidance. Every traveller should follow medical advice and current local directions.

Flexible Weather-Buffer Day

Day 9 is retained as a buffer because Himalayan road conditions can change. If the earlier route operates normally, the day can be used for relaxed local sightseeing, shopping or rest in Leh.

Day Wise Plan

Tour Itinerary

Arrive in Srinagar and meet the local representative for transfer to the confirmed hotel or houseboat. Keep the first day relaxed, with optional nearby sightseeing depending on arrival time. Overnight stay in Srinagar.

After breakfast, drive from Srinagar to Kargil through Sonamarg and across Zoji La, subject to current road and weather conditions. Continue through Drass, with a stop at the Kargil War Memorial when access and time permit. Check in at the confirmed hotel in Kargil.

Travel from Kargil to Leh through Mulbek, Namika La, Fotu La and Lamayuru. En-route stops may include the Lamayuru landscape, the Indus–Zanskar confluence and Magnetic Hill, subject to daylight and route conditions. Arrive in Leh, check in and rest.

Use the first full day in Leh for acclimatization. Keep activity light and follow current hydration and health guidance. Short visits within or close to Leh, such as the local market, Leh Palace or Shanti Stupa, may be planned according to guest comfort.

Continue acclimatization with a paced sightseeing programme around Leh. Suggested visits include Shey Palace, Thiksey Monastery, Hall of Fame or other nearby attractions, subject to opening hours and guest fitness. Return to Leh for the night.

After completing the advised acclimatization period and subject to fitness, drive from Leh to Nubra Valley across Khardung La. Visit Diskit Monastery and Hunder if time and conditions permit. Check in at the confirmed hotel or camp in Nubra Valley.

After breakfast, travel from Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake using the permitted route, normally via the Shyok sector when open. The journey is subject to permits, weather and local authority directions. Check in at the confirmed camp or accommodation near Pangong.

Enjoy the morning views at Pangong Lake before driving back to Leh via the approved route, commonly through Chang La when open. Sightseeing stops depend on road conditions and daylight. Check in at the Leh hotel for the night.
