North India’s Ladakh is a mountainous area known as the “land of high mountain passes.” The major city of Leh is located 3500 metres above sea level, tucked away in the Ladakh, Karakoram, and Zanskar mountain ranges. Ladakh is renowned for its secluded mountain grandeur, dotted with stupas and monasteries. Ladakh is frequently referred to as “Little Tibet” because of its closeness to Tibet and its close ties to Tibetan culture.
Our tour representative will greet you when you arrive in Leh and help you with a hassle-free transfer to the pre-arranged hotel. Complete the hotel check-in procedures, then spend the remainder of the day relaxing. Taking a rest for a day is a necessary thing to do in Ladakh to get familiar with the high-altitude place. Also, it is advisable to keep yourself hydrated.
After resting in the hotel for the day, visit the Shanti Stupa in the evening for a peaceful retreat. This beautiful white dome-shaped Buddhist Stupa is a popular tourist attraction in Leh. The Chanspa Stupa, situated atop a slope, provides a breathtaking sunset view. From the hilltop, you can also take in a comprehensive perspective of Leh. Then explore the famous Leh market, an ideal place to buy Buddhist masks, prayer wheels, Thangka paintings and woollen items like Pashmina shawls, gloves, sweaters and more. After exploration, go back to your hotel and have dinner.
Overnight stay at the hotel.
Start the day by munching a delicious breakfast and then drive towards the west of Leh to visit the Alchi Monastery. En route, halt near Magnetic Hill, one of the must-visit places in Ladakh. Also, visit the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar Rivers at Nimu, a popular spot for white water rafting in Ladakh. Then continue to the Alchi Monastery.
Built sometime back in 990 A.D., the monastery is famous for magnificent and well-preserved wall paintings created in the 11th- or 12th century in Indo-Himalayan style. The monastery is located in the scenic Alchi village on the bank of the river Indus. After walking on the village pathway and exploring the ancient monastery, head back to Leh. En route, visit the Hall of Fame. The Indian army set up this museum in honour of the Indian soldiers martyred in the Indo-Pakistan war. After exploration, go back to your hotel and have dinner.
